Field Service Technician

The Hunter Foundry Field Service Technician is responsible for providing on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and technical support on Hunter Foundry Machinery. The role involves troubleshooting complex systems, ensuring equipment operates efficiently, and delivering exceptional customer service to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Installation, Start-up and Maintenance:
    • Install, inspect, and test equipment or machinery at customer sites.
    • Start-up machinery at customer sites.
    • Perform routine maintenance and preventive care to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  2. Troubleshooting and Repair:
    • Diagnose and resolve technical issues with equipment or systems.
    • Replace defective components and recommend upgrades or improvements as needed.
    • Consults with Hunter Foundry engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance.
  3. Customer Support:
    • Provide technical assistance and training to customers regarding equipment use and maintenance.
    • Maintain a professional demeanor while addressing client concerns or questions.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Prepare detailed daily and end of project service reports, including maintenance records and parts used.
    • Document all actions and provide feedback to internal teams to improve product reliability.
  5. Safety Compliance:
    • Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with company and customer safety standards.
    • Identify and mitigate potential hazards on job sites.
  6. Travel:
    • Travel to customer locations, often on short notice, to perform service work.
    • Manage schedules and prioritize service calls to meet deadlines.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
    • Associate’s degree or technical certification in mechanical field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in field service or equipment maintenance.
    • Experience with Foundry molding equipment is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Proficient with tools, diagnostic equipment, and software.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
    • Knowledge in electrical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
    • PLC A B & GE (Program) monitoring, downloading, and/or troubleshooting experience a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including confined spaces and heights.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours and be on-call as needed.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily field-based with exposure to industrial settings.
  • Frequent overtime is required.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Valid passport for international work.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screening.
  • Position requires 80% travel with occasional international travel.
  • Self-starter Be able to adapt to changing work schedules to accommodate the customer

 

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, IE Word, EXCEL, etc.
