CNC Mill Operator

Location: Schaumburg, IL for a few months, then relocation to Huntley, IL

Primary responsibilities include setting up (as required), operating, and monitoring CNC (computer numerically controlled) vertical and horizontal milling machines. The role involves performing machining operations such as milling, boring, threading, and facing while ensuring quality and efficiency.

Key Skills and Competencies

• Familiarity with general milling machine operation and basic mechanical skills.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to read a tape measure, verify dimensions, and use measuring tools such as straightedges and gauges.
• Basic understanding of machine drawings, fits, and tolerances.
• Ability to operate lifting devices safely.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal) related to job duties.
• Adaptability to changing work environments, priorities, and production demands.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to lift and handle components weighing up to 100 lbs.
• Ability to work collaboratively when tasks require multiple individuals.
• Capability to work independently without constant supervision.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Operate CNC milling machines for machining components.
• Assist with setup and make minor program adjustments if required.
• Read and understand CNC programs; basic knowledge of GibbsCAM is a plus.
• Prepare and load materials into machines using appropriate lifting equipment.
• Verify machine settings through first-piece inspection and sample checks.
• Identify machine malfunctions, replace worn tools, and clean machines as needed.
• Report equipment issues or defective materials to the supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of machines and work area.
• Follow all company safety rules and personnel policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
• Be available for overtime as required.
